Aseq Full Movie And Story

Director: Sarim Momin
Writers: Gauri Karnik, Sarim Momin
Stars: Vardhaan Puri, Sonnalli Seygall, Siddhant Kapoor

Review: ‘Aseq’ exposes us to the domain of Jinn’s known as “Aseq” (from which the word “Aashiq” is derived)—who when fixated on a person, become infatuated and are challenging to get rid of. Though conceptually appealing, the writing falls short since it fails to effectively portray the intriguing subject.

Writer-director Sarin Momin manages to create a sense of unease by incorporating spooky scenes at regular intervals. The film, however, falls short of exploring its premise fully and developing its characters, preventing viewers from connecting with the protagonists. The uneven pacing and predictable screenplay also contribute to the disappointment. The central plot revolving around the Jinn appears to be half-heartedly written; the film may have been more effective with more in-depth writing and clarity. Additionally, the use of clichéd dialogues such as “ek ko bhulane hain ” further detracts from the overall experience.

Sonnalli Seygall delivers a decent performance as Lail in ‘Aseq.’ She is best known for her appearances in romantic comedies like ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’ and ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety,’ but she plays a drastically different persona here. Seygall looks pretty on screen, which can make connecting with her other side of personality difficult at times. The friend’s trio, Vardhan Puri, Siddhant Kapoor, and Adi Chugh, play their part well. Their characters, on the other hand, are underdeveloped, making it difficult for the viewer to connect with them.

Shot in London, both the cinematography (by Naren Gediaa) and the film’s production design contribute to the film’s unsettling mood. The background music is a crucial component of any horror movie, but this one falls short in that department as well.

Despite its intriguing premise of Jinn and its obsession, ‘Aseq’ may not measure up to promises of delivering horrors or breaking new ground in the supernatural genre. Nonetheless, it has some worth and may be considered a one-time watch.
